Tips for International Students at UPV
- Attend the orientation. UPV runs a dedicated orientation program for international students at the start of each semester. It covers PoliformaT, academic expectations, campus navigation, and administrative procedures. Do not skip it.
- Use the tutor system. Your assigned academic tutor is there to help. Introduce yourself early, and do not wait until you have a problem to make contact.
- Join ESN or a student association. ESN (Erasmus Student Network) at UPV is very active and organizes trips, events, and social activities throughout the year. Even if you are not an Erasmus student, most events are open to all internationals.
- Learn PoliformaT early. The platform is powerful but has a learning curve. Spend time in the first week understanding where materials, assignments, deadlines, and grades are located.
- Explore the CPI. Even if your program is not research-focused, visit the Ciudad Politecnica de la Innovacion. Attend seminars, talk to researchers, and explore potential thesis or internship opportunities.
- Take advantage of the sports complex. The EUR 50-80 per semester fee is outstanding value. Regular exercise is one of the strongest predictors of academic success and wellbeing during an international study experience.
- Get the Valenbisi subscription. Campus is well-connected by bike lanes, and cycling between campus, your neighborhood, and the city center is the fastest and most pleasant way to get around.
